It's been a couple of months since I purchased my FT-2000.
Yaesu has a winner here. Both the transmit and receive audio are superb.
A word of caution though. The Ft-2000 is not just a plug and play set. It does require some set-up on both the transmit and receive side of things. The receiver(s) are not like anything else I've tried.
I've owned and operated many higher end rigs to compare the 2K against. It continues to amaze me. The signal to noise ratio is fantastic. The microprocessor controlled DNR is not your typical DNR found on most modern rigs. It is an intelligent system that can determine what course of action it will apply to the offensive( noise). More on the FT-2K later.................
Jan 1 2009... I've installed the latest firmware upgrades and I'm quite pleased and surprised!
The main CPU upgrade and the PEP DSP fixed and upgraded quite a few things.
The DNR , The peak output power, The processor, The DNF is more aggressive on heterodynes...similar to my FT-1000mp auto notch. The Sub VFO window now displays the values of DSP range and menu changes and more.
This really is the future of radio. Hey!, this is what I call software defined (Radio) with a radio to boot!
Yaesu, keep up the good work.
You can hear me on the air with my ESSB FT-2000 nightly at 9:00 PM eastern on 3,730.
